Please follow the below instructions for optimal results.
If you have any questions/concerns/inquiries, please feel free to reach out to us. We are happy to assist in any way we can.
Medications
Please take your prescribed medications as per your indicated instructions. We do not recommend for you to take your medications on an empty
stomach. DO NOT drive or operate any machinery after taking your medicationsj
- Please DO NOT consume any alcoholic beverages forty-eight (48) hours following your procedure.
For up to ten (10) days to fourteen (14) days after the procedure, please ensure to cover your head from outside environmental exposures (including
rain, sunlight, snow).
Sleeping
We recommend rest for two (2) to three (3) days after your procedure.
- For the next three (3) to five (5) days following your procedure, use two (2) to three (3) pillows positioned at a forty-five (45) degree angle and DO NOT sleep on your stomach to prevent swelling and bruising.
Physical Activity
Please limit all strenuous physical activity for two (2) weeks after your procedure including dancing, jogging, diving, and lifting, and especially
exercising.
- After the two (2) weeks mark, you can resume your regular exercise routines (swimming, golfing, lifting, and exercising). After forty-eight (48) hours after your procedure, you may resume regular sexual activity.
Swelling, Numbing, and Drainage
Apply an ice pack (covered with a light, absorbent towel to help prevent frostbite) for fifteen (15) to twenty (20) minutes every two (2) to
three (3) hours during the first twenty-four (24) to forty-eight (48) hours after your procedure in order to avoid swelling and bruising.
- Please be aware that it is normal for swelling to occur up to three (3) days after surgery and can last up to four (4) to five (5) days.
- Temporary numbness will occur at both the donor and recipient areas.
- There will also be fluid drainage from the donor and recipient areas. Please apply light pressure with a clean and dry gauze for five (5) to ten (10) minutes to stop drainage.
Ingrown Hair and Sebaceous (oil) Glands, and Bumps
As the result of the body's natural healing process, you may notice bumps and pimples, as a result of the body's healing process, three (3) to four
(4) weeks after your procedure. DO NOT pick, squeeze, or puncture the pimples, doing so may cause an adverse reaction, such as an infection.
- You may apply warm compresses in fifteen (15) to twenty (20) minute intervals three (3) to four (4) times daily for at least five (5) days. It may take up to two (2) weeks for it to clear up. Please be aware that recurrence is not unusual.
Scabbing
Over the next few weeks, it is normal for scabs to form and naturally fall off on their own. Please DO NOT pick at the scabs.
- Please know that even if you notice tiny hair shafts in the scabs, your hair grafts remain intact. Although it is natural for the hair shaft to shed, the hair follicles remain embedded in the scalp, forming new hair approximately twelve (12) weeks post-procedure.
Saltwater Spray/Sterile Saline Solution:
The next day after your procedure, it is important to begin spraying both your donor and recipient areas with salt water OR sterile saline solution.
This helps speed up the healing process and aides in the shedding of the scabs.
